ABOUT OUR GRANT PROGRAM

The Names Family Foundation honors the passion of Scott and Evelyn “Sis” Names, who believed that every person deserves to live a healthy life with access to sports, athletics and play with plenty of opportunities to be physically fit. We support nonprofit organizations that are transforming lives through sports, physical activity and movement. We invest primarily in the Pierce County region, and in areas that have a direct link to the Names Family. Together we can impact lives in our community today, tomorrow and for generations to come.

HOW TO APPLY FOR A GRANT

The Names Family Foundation Board of Directors uses an online grant system (link below) that is reviewed by the Board to determine interest. Please call 253-236-7333 or email lsauer@namesfoundation.org with any questions.

Our application process for 2025 is now open.
We will be accepting applications until late August for this year's cycle. To submit an application, here is the process:

To submit an application:  If you do not have an account set up, the first step is to establish an organizational account through our online grant-making platform by clicking the link below. From there you will be prompted to complete the grant application which will include information about the project, budget and type of request you are making.

Step By Step:
1.    Click the “grant software login” button below and you’ll be transferred to the grant interface. Either create a profile if your organization is applying for the first time or log-in to your account.
2.    Once logged in, start and complete the application, which can be saved and submitted at any time before the August closure. Once submitted, you will receive a confirmation email that includes a timeline and next steps.
3. Applications are reviewed by the Board of Directors. If more information is requested, we will reach out to you. You will receive notification regarding the Board's decision prior to the end of the year.

FAQ

The Names Family Foundation supports an open application process for requests that support physical activity, sports and movement.

Other types of requests require an invitation, and we will reach out to you directly if you are invited.

Q: May we submit more than one request per grant cycle?
A.  In general, the NFF does not consider more than one request per grant cycle.  

Q:What if our application is declined?
A: While we wish we could fund every project, we are constrained by limited dollars and many requests. If your application is declined, you will be notified by email. You can contact the Grants & Administrative Manager at lsauer@namesfoundation.org for more information.

Q. How much money should we request?
A: Ask for what you need from Names Family Foundation as part of your overall funding. We rarely fund 100% of a project or organization budget. You should be able to show that you are seeking or have received other sources of funding. Other sources might include foundations, corporations, individuals, community groups, or others.  

Q: Are there any requirements after receiving a grant?
A: Yes. Recipients must complete and sign an acknowledgment or agreement in the grant portal and a report may be requested.  All requirements are detailed in the award e-mail and are assigned within the grant portal.

Q: When are grants awarded?
A: Applications are reviewed by the Board quarterly and you will be notified via e-mail with the decision.  If additional information is requested, applications may be brought to a future meeting.
